Sighting Report #36 — Serra Negra, Brazil, October 1968

This document is an official SIOANI (Sistema de Investigação de Objetos Aéreos Não Identificados) report regarding a sighting in Serra Negra, Brazil, on October 12, 1968. The report, dated May 23, 1969, was compiled by 1st Lieutenant Sergio D. Moisés. The primary witness, José Augusto de Lima Gonçalves, an administrator at the local tourist park, reported observing a pear-shaped, bright blue object approximately 4 to 5 meters in size, hovering at an altitude of 15 to 17 meters. The object featured multiple illuminated antennas and made no sound. The witness, along with his family and others, observed the object for approximately 15 minutes before it moved to a distance of 400 meters and landed. During the event, local electrical systems were affected, including the extinguishing of street lights and the failure of a transformer. The report includes a hand-drawn sketch by the witness and a clipping from the local newspaper, 'O SERRANO'. The investigator noted significant difficulty in obtaining consistent details from the witness, who struggled to recall specific facts. The document concludes that while the event was witnessed by seven people, no physical traces were found the following day due to rain.
