Object Turned Night Into Day

In May 1968, in Parksville, British Columbia, Hans Sorensen, a building contractor and private pilot, observed an unidentified aerial phenomenon. While outside his cabin shortly before 11:00 PM on an overcast night, Sorensen encountered a bright yellow, oval-shaped light approximately 400 feet above the ground. He noted that the light was intense enough to illuminate his surroundings, including his neighbor's house 600 feet away, and caused nearby ferns and leaves to quiver despite the lack of wind. After observing the object for several minutes, Sorensen witnessed it ascend slightly, at which point a bluish beam emerged from its side, suggesting the opening of a hatch. Subsequently, a smaller light descended 300 feet from the primary object and remained stationary above the trees. When the blue light extinguished, Sorensen attempted to alert his neighbor. Upon reaching the neighbor's residence, he observed the smaller light return to the larger object, which then departed rapidly in a northeasterly direction. Following the object's departure, Sorensen reported that the darkness was so profound that he struggled to navigate back to his home.
