Victoria Early Morning Sighting

On March 23, 1967, Grace Turner wrote a letter to Mrs. C. Lorenzen, the Secretary of APRO, to report a sighting experienced by her 17-year-old son, Ron. The incident occurred at 5:15 AM in the Gordon Head area of Victoria, British Columbia, while Ron was on his paper route. According to the report, Ron observed a round, blue light moving in a north-easterly direction across a clear, starry sky. He described the object's speed as being three times faster than a jet, though slower than a shooting star. The object appeared and disappeared suddenly, as if it had been switched on and off, and produced no sound or trail. Ron, who is noted as being familiar with night-flying aircraft and interested in astronomy, estimated the object's size to be approximately 1/8 inch at arm's length and described its light as bright but soft, similar to an ultraviolet bulb in a clothes dryer. Mrs. Turner, who had only recently applied for membership to APRO, submitted the report to ensure the details were documented.
