Project 10073 Record: UFO Observation, 21 December 1966

This document is a Project 10073 record concerning a UFO sighting reported by a civilian in Englewood, Colorado, on December 21, 1966. The witness, a 48-year-old housewife, observed a single object that she described as resembling the popular image of a flying saucer. The object was characterized by three red lights, with the center light blinking, and was estimated to be the size of a grapefruit held at arm's length. The witness reported that the object moved from the northwest to the southeast, stopped, backed up, descended near the horizon, and performed a 'yo-yo' motion four or five times before disappearing behind the mountains. The observation lasted approximately two minutes. The witness noted that she had observed a similar object about two months prior on a Wednesday night. The Air Force, represented by Colonel James C. Manatt, concluded that the provided information was insufficient for a formal evaluation. Consequently, the witness was sent an FTD Form 164 to provide more detailed information.
