Project 10073 Record — Englewood, Ohio, 3 August 1966

On 3 August 1966, a civilian observer in Englewood, Ohio, reported a sighting of an unidentified aerial phenomenon. The observer, while looking out a window towards the east, noted an object that appeared significantly brighter than any star or satellite they had previously seen. The object was described as slightly oval in shape with no visible protrusions and remained stationary throughout the 10-minute observation period. The observer noted that the object appeared to be quite distant and was viewed through a window screen. The witness failed to observe the object long enough to see how it disappeared. Following the report, the Air Force, through the Foreign Technology Division (FTD) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, contacted the witness on 8 August 1966, requesting that they complete FTD Form 164 for further evaluation. The official conclusion reached by Project Blue Book for this incident was that the object was the planet Venus.
