Project Blue Book Case File: Sighting Report - Laos, March 1965

This document contains the records of a Project Blue Book investigation into a sighting reported by a pilot flying for Air America in Laos on March 15, 1965. The witness, a Captain whose name is redacted, submitted a photograph and film strip for analysis, believing he had captured an unidentified aerial object that resembled an airfoil with a pitot tube and ram-air intake. The witness provided technical data, noting the camera was a Japanese Mimoya, the altitude was 6,000-7,000 feet, and the photo was taken from the pilot's window of a C-46 aircraft. The Foreign Technology Division (FTD) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base conducted a photo analysis under Work Order 65-62. The analysts, TSgt Moody and PI Kinney, concluded that the object was not an unidentified aerial phenomenon but rather a portion of the aircraft itself. They determined that the object was in close range to the camera and likely represented the ledge of the pilot's window, with some material or cloth draped over it, and that the 'alleged' pitot tube was simply a visible part of the aircraft structure.
