Project 10073 Record Card and Related Message — Frederikshaab, Greenland, January 1959

This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and an associated military message regarding an unidentified aerial phenomenon observed in Greenland in January 1959. The primary incident occurred on January 14, 1959, at 0800Z near Frederikshaab, Greenland. A civilian witness reported observing a torpedo-shaped object, approximately one yard in length, flying slowly from east to west just north of the settlement. The observation lasted for four minutes. The official conclusion recorded on the card is that the object was 'no doubt an aircraft, probably a small private aircraft.' The accompanying military message, UXA114, provides additional context, noting that this report was part of a series of observations in the region. It mentions that the report was backed up by other sightings at the same time from near the settlement of Sarqaq (69N-52W). The message also references an earlier sighting on January 13, 1959, at approximately 1400Z, where a blue-greenish, very bright light with a tail was observed moving fast over Qutoligssat (70N-53W) from north to south, and a subsequent sighting at 1600Z of a similar phenomenon.
