Project 10073 Record Card and Incident Report — Camp Pon-Tok, Maryland, 23 June 1955

This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and a subsequent teletype report regarding a UFO sighting on 23 June 1955. The incident occurred at Camp Pon-Tok, Maryland, at approximately 0330Z. The primary witness was an 18-year-old civilian student who reported observing a single, round object that appeared the size of a quarter. The witness described the object as white when stationary and red when in motion. The observation lasted for one minute. The weather conditions at the time were reported as 70 degrees Fahrenheit with clear skies, following a heavy thunderstorm that had abated approximately 30 minutes prior to the sighting. The report notes that the observer claimed to have several other witnesses and possessed their contact information. The military investigation, conducted by the 647th AC&W Squadron in Manassas, Virginia, cross-referenced the sighting with radar data. 1st Lt. Alfred J. Rickey, the Senior Director of the 'C' crew, reported that a track identified as P-19 was plotted in the area at the time of the sighting. This track was identified as an Air Force jet. Given the atmospheric conditions, the official conclusion reached by the military was that the reported UFO and the Air Force jet (Track P-19) were one and the same.
