Memorandum for the Record: Interview regarding aerial sighting

This memorandum documents an interview with an individual who witnessed an aerial phenomenon while riding on a train. The witness, who was feeling tired and suffering from a cold, observed a greenish-yellow, round object ascending rapidly outside the train window. Shortly after this object disappeared, a second object appeared, which the witness and others on the train observed. The witness noted that the compartment lights were on when the first object was sighted but were subsequently switched off. The witness described the objects as having no rocket trail or smoke, and noted they appeared to be gently whirling or 'tumbling upward' at a steep angle, which he compared to a Fourth of July rocket on a highly inclined track. The objects were estimated to be between 600 and 800 feet above the earth and continued to ascend without leveling off. The witness reported hearing no noise from the objects above the sound of the train. A searchlight was visible in the area, but it was not pointed at the objects and did not follow them. In a subsequent discussion, other passengers claimed to have seen lights on the objects and to have seen more details, though the primary witness remarked that their eyes were better than his, as he could only see the round yellow light. The witness also stated that he had passed several air force bases in the region and did not feel that anything was being concealed from him, noting that if the objects were jet airplanes, they climbed surprisingly rapidly.
