FLYING SAUCERS IN SPAIN AND NORTH AFRICA

This Central Intelligence Agency report, dated August 27, 1952, compiles various press reports regarding sightings of unconventional aircraft in Spain and North Africa between May and June 1952. The document details five distinct incidents. The first occurred on May 21, 1952, in Barcelona, Spain, where a witness observed a rocket-shaped object flying at high speed approximately 2,000 meters above the ground, leaving a smoke trail. The object was reported to be revolving on its axis and did not resemble standard aircraft. A photograph of the smoke trail was taken by a friend of the witness. On June 3, 1952, in Sousse, Tunisia, inhabitants reported a flying object traveling at high speed emitting a pale green light. On June 7, 1952, in Meknes, Morocco, witnesses reported a bright spot moving at high speed, which they compared to T-33 planes; the object emitted a white trail, made no sound, described a parabola in the sky, and disappeared toward Ifrane. On June 15, 1952, a phenomenon appeared over Taourirt, Morocco, described as a disc of white flames surrounded by two circular strands with smoke trailing behind it, which moved earthward for 30 seconds. Finally, on June 15, 1952, a sighting was reported over Casablanca, Morocco, by a former pilot, Andre Assoris. The report notes that the Meteorological Bureau claimed it had not seen this unusual apparition.
