Incident Report: Landing of an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (U.V.N.I.) - Draguignan, January 1981

This document is an official Gendarmerie Nationale report detailing an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (O.V.N.I.) sighting in Draguignan, France, on January 8, 1981. The witness, identified as Monsieur N. R., was working in his garden around 17:00 when he observed an ovoid-shaped object, approximately 3 meters in diameter and matte gray in color, descending vertically. The object emitted a light whistling sound and hovered at a height of approximately 1 meter above the ground. Upon the witness approaching, the object ascended vertically at high speed to a height of about 25 meters before moving off in an easterly direction. The total duration of the observation was approximately one minute. The witness reported no portholes, antennas, or occupants. Following the incident, the local Gendarmerie brigade inspected the site and discovered physical traces consisting of two concentric circles, resembling tire tracks, measuring 80cm in length and 10cm in width. Soil and grass samples were collected for analysis by GEPAN (Groupe d'Études des Phénomènes Aérospatiaux Non identifiés). The report includes photographic evidence of the site and the traces found. The investigating officer noted that there were no high or low voltage lines, railways, or electric fences in the immediate vicinity, and the compass showed no abnormal reactions. The case was formally transmitted to the regional Gendarmerie command and the Ministry of Defense.
