Expediente Número 710314: Avistamiento de Fenómenos Extraños (El Plantío-Majadahonda)

This document is a declassified military file (Expediente 710314) from the Spanish Air Force (Ejército del Aire) regarding a UFO sighting that occurred on March 14, 1971, in El Plantío-Majadahonda. Two young witnesses, aged 15 and 16, reported observing a stationary object in the sky at 20:45 hours. According to their accounts, the object remained suspended before moving away with great speed, leaving a trail behind it. The witnesses described the object as triangular in shape, similar in size to an airplane, and noted a faint motor noise and a flashing red light. The sighting lasted approximately one to one and a half minutes before the object disappeared into the clouds. The military investigation involved gathering statements from both witnesses and consulting radar control centers in Villatobas and Paracuellos. Both radar centers reported no abnormal activity during the time of the sighting. The intelligence officer from the Mando Operativo Aéreo (MOA) analyzed the reports and concluded that the evidence—specifically the motor noise, the triangular shape, the lateral movement, and the red flashing light—strongly suggested the witnesses had observed a conventional aircraft. The report highlights that the area is crossed by several air routes and notes that the witnesses' accounts were nearly identical, suggesting a lack of independent observation. The file was officially declassified on September 23, 1993, with the determination that there were no aspects of the case that warranted continued classification as 'Secret Material'.
