Pillar Of Light Seen — Port Alice, BC — October 3, 1969

This document contains a personal account from Gary Godfrey regarding a sighting on October 3, 1969, near Port Alice, British Columbia. The report details two separate observations of an anomalous event. The first witness, located in a logging area near Victoria Lake, observed a bright white pillar rising from the land or sea to an estimated height of 30,000 feet in three to four minutes. The pillar then made a perfect right-angle turn and continued horizontally before disappearing. Subsequently, this witness observed a large, four-engined, delta-winged jet aircraft. A solid black line, estimated to be 20-40 miles long, appeared to be connected to the nose of the jet and was 'reeled in' as the aircraft flew. The second witness, Gary Godfrey, observed the same or a similar jet at 12:03 p.m. while walking to a cookhouse. He confirmed the presence of the black line, which he described as being 'gobbled up' or reeled into the nose of the plane like an eraser removing a pencil line. He noted that the plane made no noise and that the black line eventually disappeared, replaced by a transparent or celluloid-like line.
