Project 10073 Record — UFO Observation, 19 Aug 69

This document is a Project 10073 record concerning a UFO sighting reported by two civilian observers near Fairborn, Ohio, on August 19, 1969. The observers, who were camping at the time, reported seeing two flashing lights in the southwest sky for approximately one hour and 27 minutes. The witnesses described the objects as bright, flashing lights that changed colors between white, yellow, red, and green. One witness described the object as disc-shaped, while another described it as a block-shaped mass of light. The objects were observed moving behind trees and descending toward the horizon. The witnesses used binoculars to observe the phenomena and a wristwatch to time the intervals of the flashing lights. The Air Force, through the Aerial Phenomena Office, requested further information from the witnesses via AF Form 117, noting that the initial report was insufficient for a scientific investigation. The final official conclusion for the incident was categorized as 'Astro (STARS/PLANETS)'. The investigating officer, Lt. Colonel Hector Quintanilla, Jr., noted that the report was 'confusing and conflicting'.
