The witness estimated the object's size to be three to four times larger than a match head held at arm's length and noted its altitude as being at least 50 feet above the ground. The witness observed the object moving in a northerly direction, noting that it appeared to pass in front of a school building and behind houses. The sighting occurred during a period of haze or smog. The witness was in a vehicle at the time, traveling at approximately 30-35 mph. The official conclusion reached by the Air Force investigators was that the object was a 'probable hot air balloon,' citing that the description was similar to past observations of garment bag hot air balloons.
