Mysterious "Lite" Over West Vancouver

This document is a letter to the editor of the Canadian UFO Report, published in the July-August 1969 issue (Vol. 1, No. 4). The author, Muriell Anne Kvan of North Vancouver, B.C., writes to express her appreciation for the magazine and to share her personal experiences with UFO sightings. Kvan reports observing a 'brilliant' light over the West Vancouver area near the water-line during January and February 1969. She notes that the object would dim and disappear whenever she attempted to photograph it, only to reappear once she went back inside. She claims to have successfully captured the object on a color slide, which she was waiting to have processed at the time of writing. Kvan also mentions that she possesses files containing statements from other individuals regarding UFO activity in 1968. Furthermore, the author draws a potential connection between UFO sightings and marine casualties in the region. She cites the disappearance of the tugboat 'Gulf Master' and its five-man crew on January 11, 1967, near Sechelt, B.C., noting that it occurred without an apparent reason, similar to another tugboat incident in the same area less than a month prior. She reports that another tugboat had recently gone down in the area, and suggests that the frequency of UFO sightings near these locations warrants further investigation. The editor of the Canadian UFO Report adds a note at the end of the letter, directing readers to a letter from consulting editor Brian Cannon in the May-June issue for more information on the alleged link between UFO activity and marine casualties.
