An Object On Its Edge

This document, written by John Magor, editor of the Canadian UFO Report, details a significant UFO sighting that occurred in March 1966 in the Shawnigan Lake Forest District of British Columbia. The witness, Albert Kershaw, a logging truck driver, observed a large, shiny, metallic object approximately 100 feet long while checking his truck's brakes. The object, which lacked wings or a tail, featured glowing orange ends and a smooth fuselage with two visible panels. As it moved toward higher ground, the object emitted two puffs of black dust, rolled over to reveal a discoid shape, and proceeded to travel on its edge through the trees like a giant wheel. The experience was so profound that Kershaw subsequently pursued flight training to better understand and track such phenomena. Magor compares this incident to a second report involving a police officer who observed a similar object 'on its edge' near a U.S. missile base in North Dakota in August 1966, a case previously discussed by Dr. J. Allen Hynek. Although the two objects differed in size and specific features, such as the presence of a dome on the second craft, Magor highlights their shared characteristic of low-level, edge-on flight as evidence of the sophisticated, unorthodox control capabilities of these objects.
