UFO Dances Over Valley

On the evening of December 1, 1968, a group of four men—Ray Fairservice, Donald Klint, Darwin Bjornson, and Rusty Shelly—arrived at the gate of a logging ground in Gold River, Vancouver Island. They encountered the gatekeeper, Bus Stevens, who was in a state of significant agitation. Stevens reported that his Volkswagen bus had stalled when a light flew directly above him. Upon exiting their vehicle, the four men observed a bluish-white light, described as ten times brighter than a star, performing 'lazy S' maneuvers along the Gold River valley. The witnesses noted that the object moved in a deliberate manner, following the contours of the terrain and favoring one side of the valley. Darwin Bjornson, observing the object through a rifle scope, reported seeing a dark shape beneath the light, from which a beam slanted downward. He noted that the object appeared to obscure the trees behind it as it passed. The object remained visible for approximately 15 minutes before disappearing behind the surrounding hills. The witnesses explicitly stated that the object made no sound and was not a helicopter, noting that the illumination was sufficient to see the trees clearly despite the absence of moonlight.
