Project 10073 Record: UFO Observation, 20 July 1968, Seven Hills, Ohio

This document details a UFO sighting reported by a 14-year-old male in Seven Hills, Ohio, on July 20, 1968. The witness reported observing a bright, silver, disc-shaped object with a black band on its edge, traveling north at an estimated altitude of 300 feet. The observation lasted approximately ten to fifteen seconds before the object disappeared behind a house. The witness, who expressed a strong interest in aircraft, noted that the object did not resemble any aircraft he had previously seen. The Air Force, through the Aerial Phenomena Office led by Lt. Col. Hector Quintanilla, Jr., initiated an investigation. They contacted the Seven Hills Police Department to inquire if any other reports of unusual objects had been received for that date. The Chief of Police, C. R. Nawalaniec, responded on September 5, 1968, stating that the department had no information regarding the incident. The Air Force concluded that the sighting was likely a reflection of sunlight from an aircraft, noting the proximity of the observer to the Cleveland Hopkins Airport and the short duration of the sighting.
