Project 10073 Record — UFO Observation, 24 Jan 67

This document contains a series of correspondence and a Project 10073 record regarding a UFO sighting reported by a civilian in Lake City, Pennsylvania, on January 24, 1967. The witness, a teenager, reported observing an object through two telescopes alongside other witnesses. The object was described as oval-shaped with fuzzy edges, appearing white to yellowish-white in color, and exhibiting a blinking light. The witness noted that the object appeared to be near the moon and moved very slowly to the south of the moon's surface. The observation lasted between 3 and 11 minutes, depending on the report provided. The witness explicitly stated that the object was not a star, planet, or satellite. The Air Force, through the Foreign Technology Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, responded to the witness on February 15, 1967, stating that the information provided was insufficient for a scientific evaluation and requested the completion of an FTD Form 164. The official conclusion recorded on the Project 10073 form was that there was no data presented to indicate the object was not an aircraft, with a note suggesting it was a 'possible' aircraft.
