The witness, a 39-year-old housewife and decorator residing at 21 Stuyvesant Oval, reported observing a single, flat, round, light-blue object at approximately 0025Z. The object was described as being the size of an automobile and leaving a small smoke trail, though no sound was reported. The witness observed the object at a 45-degree angle before it was blocked by a building. The Air Force investigation, led by Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr., concluded that there was insufficient data for a definitive evaluation. The official assessment suggested that city lights in New York could potentially explain the observation, noting that no Air Force aircraft were operating in the area at the time.
