Project 10073 Record: UFO Observation, 12 July 1966

This document contains a UAP sighting report from a civilian witness in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, dated July 12, 1966. The witness, a 13-year-old male, reported observing a single, solid, banana-shaped object that was reddish-bluish in color. The object was seen in the northwest portion of the sky at approximately 10:15 P.M. EDT. The witness estimated the object's speed at 40 M.P.H. and its distance at 1,000 feet. The observation lasted for 23 seconds before the object disappeared into the clouds. The witness reported no sound and noted that the object changed brightness. The Air Force's Foreign Technology Division (FTD) reviewed the report and determined that the information was insufficient for a scientific evaluation. A letter from Colonel James C. Manatt, dated January 30, 1967, requested that the witness complete an FTD Form 164 for further analysis.
