Project 10073 Record — Sighting in Lakewood, California, 5 July 1966

This document is a Project 10073 record detailing a UFO sighting reported by a 14-year-old male in Lakewood, California, on July 5, 1966. The witness, who noted having knowledge of rockets and aircraft through correspondence with NASA and the USAF, observed a single object for approximately four minutes. According to the witness, the object appeared from the southwest at an altitude of about 60 feet, moved on an eastern path, swerved, and then proceeded toward the northeast. The object reportedly stopped at a distance of approximately 200 feet from the witness's house for about three minutes before speeding off toward the northeast. The witness described the object as a triangle with rounded edges, featuring red and green lights along its sides, and noted a 'swishing' sound. The witness observed the object through a window and with binoculars. The official conclusion recorded on the document is 'Aircraft (possible)'. The witness completed the questionnaire on July 22, 1966, and indicated that he had reported the sighting to Project Blue Book.
