Project 10073 Record: UFO Sightings, Schenectady, New York, 8 April 1966

This document contains records from the 2856th Air Base Group regarding two UFO sightings reported in the Schenectady, New York area on the evening of 8 April 1966. The first report, received at 2130E, described two to three round objects with red and white lights that hovered and dove toward the ground. The second report, received at 2230E, described two objects with white, yellow, and green lights that sounded like a helicopter and left two exhaust streams. The investigating officer, Major William H. Carrington, concluded that the descriptions were consistent with helicopter or light aircraft operations, despite negative reports from local airports regarding helicopter activity that night. The witnesses were assessed as having low reliability due to a lack of technical background. The records include completed UFO checklists, weather observer reports, and a formal memorandum from the Air Base Group to the Foreign Technology Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
