Project 10073 Record — Leesburg, Florida, April 1966

This document consists of a Project 10073 record and associated correspondence regarding a civilian sighting in Leesburg, Florida, in April 1966. The witness reported that while working in their garden on a Friday, either the 22nd or 29th of April, they observed a jet traveling from a northerly direction toward the south. The witness noted two small objects, one on each side of the jet, which appeared to be 'hugging' it. When the objects reached a certain point, they abruptly left the jet, made a large arc to the left of approximately 300 yards, and spiraled upward out of sight. The witness described the objects as being small compared to the jet but having distinct controls. The Air Force, represented by Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr., Chief of Project Blue Book, determined that the initial letter provided on June 1, 1966, contained insufficient information for a formal evaluation. Consequently, the Air Force sent FTD Form 164 to the witness on July 27, 1966, requesting additional details. The project record indicates that the form was never returned after 30 days, leading to a final conclusion of insufficient data for evaluation.
