Project 10073 Record — Sighting Report, Kampala, Uganda, 27 September 1965

This document contains a collection of records and correspondence regarding a UFO sighting reported by a twelve-year-old American boy living in Kampala, Uganda, on the night of 27 September 1965. The witness observed three distinct objects in the sky. The first object appeared as a faint dot traveling to the southwest. The second object, which was brighter, moved to the northeast at a faster speed, appeared to rotate, and exhibited spike-like protuberances before fading out. The third object was described as similar to the second but moved to the east. The witness and his family observed these phenomena and subsequently submitted a report to the U.S. Air Force. The Air Force, through Project Blue Book and the Office of Information, responded to the witness's family, explaining that the report was consistent with numerous other satellite sightings. The official conclusion reached by the Air Force was that the observations were caused by satellites reflecting sunlight, and that the objects appeared to disappear when they entered the Earth's shadow. The Air Force provided the family with educational materials, including a 'TRW Space Log' and a 'Star Catalog' of visible satellites, to assist in their understanding of the phenomena.
