UFO Report — Fossil, Oregon, 6 July 1965

This document collection details a UFO sighting reported by a civilian rancher in Fossil, Oregon, on July 6, 1965. The witness reported observing three silver, cigar-shaped objects, each approximately 60 feet long and 12 feet in depth, flying in a side-by-side formation. The objects were observed for two minutes moving in a southwesterly direction at a slow speed before disappearing suddenly. The report was processed under Project Blue Book guidelines, specifically referencing AFR 200-2. Initial efforts by the Air Force to contact the witness by telephone were unsuccessful, leading to a formal request for information. Subsequent investigation by the 535 Radar Squadron at Condon AFS included an interview with the witness at the site of the observation. The investigating officer, an Intelligence NCO, noted that the witness was a college graduate and appeared very intelligent, and that his description of the objects remained consistent. The investigation confirmed that no aircraft were in the area at the time of the sighting, and the witness made no claims of the objects being 'flying saucers.' Despite the investigation, the official conclusion remained 'insufficient data pending receipt of data.'
