Project 10073 Record — Sighting Report, Tacoma, Washington, 27 August 1965

This document consists of a Project 10073 record and an associated incoming Air Force message regarding a UFO sighting reported in Tacoma, Washington, on August 27, 1965. The witness, a 54-year-old minister of fair reliability, observed a single, light-colored, cigar-shaped object at dusk. The object was described as being approximately the size of a pen held at arm's length but shorter. It was seen several hundred feet above buildings, moving initially toward the west and later toward the north before disappearing. The observation lasted between five and ten minutes. The witness reported no sound, no tail or exhaust, and no unusual features. Weather conditions at the time included black clouds well below the object, with the rest of the sky clear. The Air Force investigation, conducted by the 318th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, concluded that the sighting was likely an aircraft, noting that there was no conflicting data and no other air movement reported that could account for the sighting. No physical evidence was recovered, and no intercept action was taken.
