UFO Sighting Report — James Connally AFB, Texas, 5 March 1965

On 5 March 1965, at 06/0504Z, A2C Terry L Thomas, a dispatcher at Base Operations at James Connally AFB, Texas, observed two unidentified objects. The objects were described as white lights moving in a close flight pattern at a very high speed. The observation lasted approximately three seconds. The witness reported that the objects were in level horizontal flight at a 45-degree elevation and made no sound, nor did they exhibit any exhaust, tail, or trail. The objects eventually disappeared behind a building. The observation was made while the witness was looking toward the control tower. Following the report, Major Hector Quintanilla, Jr., Chief of the Aerial Phenomena Branch, contacted A2C Thomas on 9 March 1965, noting that the initial data received was incomplete. Major Quintanilla requested that the witness complete an FTD Form 164 to provide further details. The official conclusion recorded on the form is that there was insufficient data for evaluation, noting that no return of the form was received and there was no report from observers in the control tower.
