Project 10073 Record Card — Tenafly, New Jersey, September 1963

This document consists of a Project 10073 record card and associated U.S. Air Force technical information questionnaires regarding a UFO sighting in Tenafly, New Jersey, in early September 1963. The witness, a 12-year-old student, reported observing a single solid object with two or three tails, silver in color with a salmon-colored stripe. The object was observed for approximately two minutes and thirty seconds, moving in a northerly direction at an estimated speed of 600 mph and at a distance of five miles. The witness noted the presence of contrails or exhaust. The sighting occurred while the witness was riding a bicycle near the municipal center. The witness, who identified as a radio amateur, later wrote to Project Blue Book to report the incident, leading to the completion of these forms. The official conclusion recorded on the card states that there was nothing conflicting with aircraft analysis, and that the observed contrails or exhaust and vertical tails tended to substantiate an aircraft-based explanation.
