The Foreign Technology Division of the Air Force investigated the report and concluded that the sighting was likely an observation of the ECHO satellite, noting that the object's behavior and timing were consistent with the satellite's orbital path. The Air Force provided the witness with an ECHO satellite schedule for the Newark, New Jersey area to assist in future observations.
