Project 10073 Record Card and UFO Sighting Report — Camden, New Jersey, May 1964

This document consists of a Project 10073 Record Card and associated correspondence from the New York Air Defense Sector (NYADS) regarding a series of UFO sightings reported in central New Jersey, specifically northeast of Camden, on the evenings of May 17, 18, 19, and 21, 1964. The report details four distinct sightings by two civilian witnesses, one of whom was a commercial photographer. The witnesses described an egg-shaped object, approximately three-quarters the size of a football, which appeared bright and shifted from red to yellow. The object was reported to have a high-pitched whine similar to an engine starting and was observed hovering for 10 to 20 minutes before moving rapidly toward Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The observers noted that the object looked like light reflected on a star. The investigation, conducted by 2d Lt Frank J. Endieveri of NYADS, concluded that the sightings were likely attributable to either the Echo satellite or a Navy P2V Neptune anti-submarine warfare aircraft that was operating in the area at the time. The P2V aircraft was noted to have a searchlight in its wingtip, which may have contributed to the visual characteristics reported by the witnesses. The report was forwarded to the Air Force Systems Command (AFSC) at Wright-Patterson AFB in compliance with Air Force Regulation 200-2.
