Project 10073 Record: Sighting Report - Greensboro, North Carolina, 4 July 1963

This document is a U.S. Air Force Project 10073 sighting report concerning an unidentified aerial phenomenon observed on July 4, 1963, in Greensboro, North Carolina. The witness, an 18-year-old male, was at the Starmount Forest Country Club watching fireworks with a group of boys when he observed an object to the north. He described the object as a large, solid, yellow or orange craft resembling a plane fuselage without wings, featuring a row of red lights along its perimeter. The witness reported that the object moved silently eastward for two minutes before suddenly reversing direction, picking up speed, and then returning to its original course before moving slowly upward and out of sight. The witness, who noted he was familiar with stars and meteors due to his use of a small telescope, stated that the object did not resemble any conventional craft. The report was completed on April 6, 1967, nearly four years after the event. Consequently, the official conclusion recorded on the document is that there was insufficient data for evaluation because the report was too old to investigate.
