PROJECT 10073 RECORD CARD - Opa Locka, Florida - 20 March 1963

On March 20, 1963, a civilian witness in Opa Locka, Florida, reported observing over 100 unidentified objects in the sky at approximately 16:30 local time. The witness described the objects as spots of light, larger and brighter than stars, exhibiting metallic surfaces and colors including red, blue, and green. The objects were reported to move from west to east, with some appearing to have a halo-like glow. The witness attempted to contact various entities, including the Miami Herald, the Richmond radar station, the weather bureau, and the Miami International Airport control tower, but felt ignored. She subsequently wrote to President John F. Kennedy to express her frustration regarding the lack of official interest in her report. The Air Force, through Major C. R. Hart, attempted to contact the witness to follow up on the report. Eventually, Dr. J. Allen Hynek and Lt. Col. Robert Friend spoke with the witness on April 15, 1963. Following this contact, the Air Force concluded that the witness had experienced a physiological phenomenon described as 'spots before her eyes.' The case was officially closed on April 23, 1963, with the Department of Defense notified that the inquiry had been initiated and subsequently resolved.
