Project 10073 Record Card — Uruguay, 9 December 1957

This document contains two distinct reports regarding sightings on 9 December 1957. The first is a record card from the Uruguayan organization C.I.O.V.I. (Centro de Investigacion de Objetos Voladores Inidentificados) detailing a sighting near Arroyo Pando, Uruguay. The witness, interviewed months later in June 1958, described a fluorescent green, crescent-shaped object flying from South to North. The report notes the object's unusual trajectory and mentions a similar sighting in Canelones. The official conclusion for this incident was that there was insufficient data for analysis. The second part of the document is an Air Intelligence Information Report (IR-8-57) from the 314th Air Division in Japan. This report details a sighting by Majors Walter F. Grey and Robert Breeze, who observed an unidentified object while flying at 15,000 feet. An attached ATIC comment on this report strongly suggests that the object observed by the pilots was the planet Venus, noting that the angular measurements provided by the pilots were consistent with the planet's position and that its brightness had caused confusion among other pilots at the time.
