Project 10073 Record Card: Sighting in Montevideo, Uruguay, 7 December 1958

This document details a sighting of seven unidentified aerial objects over Montevideo, Uruguay, on the night of December 7, 1958. The primary witness, an experienced pilot and sailplane instructor, observed the objects at approximately 23:15. He described the objects as disc-shaped, dull in color, and moving in a formation that maintained exact distances between each unit, suggesting they were linked by a magnetic force or moved as a single solid mass. The witness noted that the objects did not rotate on their axes, as he could clearly distinguish two dark spots on the underside of each disc. The sighting lasted six seconds, during which the objects covered a 45-degree arc at an estimated altitude of 2,000 meters and a speed of 1,500 km/h. The flight was described as silent and without a wake. The witness, who was in a high, elevated position in the city, was the only person to report the event despite a radio appeal for other observers. The investigation was conducted by C.I.O.V.I. (Centro de Investigación de Objetos Voladores Inidentificados) in conjunction with the Uruguayan Air Force Intelligence Service. The investigators compared the formation to a famous, previously classified film from Utah, USA, which also depicted multiple discs in irregular formation. Ultimately, the case was officially classified as having insufficient data for evaluation. The witness expressed a strong belief in the necessity of pooling information on flying saucers, arguing that the global community should investigate the phenomenon rather than dismissing witnesses as irrational.
