On 12 November 1957, at 1335Z, a sighting of an unidentified aerial object occurred at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. The primary witness was Chief Warrant Officer Michael Nutt, who was accompanied by his eleven-year-old son. According to the report, the object appeared round, roughly the size of a grapefruit held at arm's length. It was initially observed as a stationary white light that flickered on and off at approximately four-second intervals. The object later appeared dull red when the lights flickered off. After two to three minutes of observation, the object disappeared at a high rate of speed while climbing in an easterly direction. The witness first noticed the object while leaving a movie theater, where he observed three other individuals pointing at the sky. The estimated altitude of the object was two thousand feet. Weather conditions at the time were dark with light rain. A weather balloon had been released at 1330Z, but the Thirteenth Air Force noted a time discrepancy between the launch and the sighting, leading them to conclude that no definitive explanation had been discovered, despite the initial assessment on the record card suggesting it was 'probably a balloon.'
