PROJECT 10073 RECORD CARD — Plattsburg, New York, 26 June 1956

This document is a Project 10073 record card and associated teletype correspondence regarding a UFO sighting reported on 26 June 1956 in Plattsburg, New York. A civilian witness reported observing a single, round-shaped object that appeared to be the size of a two-engine aircraft. The object, which was described as glowing with a yellowish light and being soundless, was observed for approximately two minutes while it was in a descending flight path. The sighting was reported to the 754th ACWRON. Military intelligence and air defense units, including the 32nd Air Division and the Air Technical Intelligence Center, were notified of the report in accordance with Air Force Regulation 200-2. Upon investigation, the 754th ACWRON determined that an F-94B jet aircraft was operating in the area at the time of the sighting. The official conclusion reached by the military authorities was that the reported object was likely the exhaust of the F-94B jet. The report explicitly notes that there was no radar correlation for the object and that no physical evidence existed to support the sighting. Weather conditions at the time were reported as having 15 miles of visibility with scattered clouds at 7,000 feet and no thunderstorm activity.
