This document collection details a UFO sighting reported by a civilian on September 4, 1967, in the Town of Hunter, Greene County, New York. The observer, identified as Nelson D. Griswold, reported seeing a white flashing light at approximately 8:35 PM. The object was described as having a flashing interval of 1/5 of a second, traveling in an easterly direction before dropping below the tree line when due northeast. The observation lasted approximately 12 seconds. The witness, who was using binoculars, noted that the object was comparable in brightness to Venus and explicitly stated it was not an Echo satellite. The report was forwarded to the Air Force through Congressman Carleton J. King. The Air Force, specifically the Foreign Technology Division (FTD), investigated the report. They concluded that the description was consistent with rotating satellite packages and noted that it was impossible to identify the specific object due to the high volume of satellites visible to the naked eye.
