UFO Sighting Report — Daly City, California, October 28, 1967

The witness, a 24-year-old male with an interest in astronomy and formal coursework in the subject, reported seeing nine objects at approximately 8:37 P.M. The objects were described as white, pulsating lights that appeared in a 'blunt wedge' formation. According to the witness, the objects traveled from the southeast, swerved due west, and then spread out into a loose line before reforming into the original wedge shape. The witness estimated the objects were at an altitude of over two miles and moving at a speed of at least 300 miles per hour. The sighting lasted for approximately one minute. The witness noted that the night was clear overhead, though there was some haze over the coast and a glow from city lights. No sound was heard, and the witness reported no physical evidence or electromagnetic effects. The witness observed the objects from a path behind the San Francisco Golf Club. Following the initial report, Major David L. Stiles of the Air Force's Civil Branch, Community Relations Division, sent a letter dated November 13, 1967, to the witness, noting that many details necessary for identification had been omitted. The Air Force provided a questionnaire for the witness to complete to assist in further investigation and advised the witness to contact the nearest Air Force base immediately should another sighting occur.
