NUFORC Sightings Report: 08/1952

This document is a compilation of five UFO sighting reports from August 1952, sourced from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC). The reports detail various aerial phenomena observed across North America. On August 15, 1952, a silent, bright light was observed over Hamilton, Ohio. On the same day in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, two observers reported a silverish, 30-foot disk performing maneuvers at both hover and supersonic speeds. Also on August 15, a 2,500-foot cigar-shaped object was seen hovering over a hill in Smithson's Valley, Texas, for approximately 20 minutes. Another sighting on August 15 occurred in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, where a dark object emerged from a cloud, leveled off, and then ascended back through the cloud. Finally, on August 1, 1952, in Tampa, Florida, an oval-shaped object was tracked via triangulation radar by the USAF, civil authorities, and the Navy. This incident involved an ordered intercept by a Strategic Air Command (SAC) B-29 aircraft, which successfully tracked the object, noting that the B-29's central fire control system locked onto the target.
