Relatório Sobre OANI (UAP Report) #072 — Cidade de Deus, Osasco, July 1969

On the night of July 26, 1969, Otávio Magdalena and several family members, along with their neighbor Hélio Cerqueira da Gama, observed an unidentified aerial phenomenon in Cidade de Deus, Osasco, Brazil. The sighting began at approximately 20:30 when the witnesses noticed a bright red light hovering at about 30 degrees of altitude. The object exhibited complex movements, including horizontal and vertical shifts, and was observed through 7x50 binoculars. The witness noted that the object's luminosity increased significantly, changing from red to orange and eventually to a near-white color. At one point, the object appeared to split into two parts, with one ascending and the other descending, before both exploded into numerous fragments. No sound was heard during this event. The witnesses attempted to contact a military official, Colonel Zani, during the sighting. After the initial disappearance, the object reappeared, performing rapid ascent and descent maneuvers before descending to the ground in a dark area between houses. The witness described the object as having a parachute-like shape, approximately two meters in size. Following the event, the witness and Hélio Cerqueira da Gama drove to the location where the object appeared to land. They found no evidence of the object, only a horse that remained immobile at the site. They later encountered three local guards who claimed to have seen a 'ball of fire' in the same area. The report was filed with the Brazilian Air Force's SIOANI project for study.
