O CASO 'DUAS PONTES'

This document details the 'Duas Pontes' case, involving the disappearance of Rivalino Mafra da Silva in August 1962 in the district of Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The primary witness, his 12-year-old son Raimundo, reported that on the night of August 19, 1962, his father observed a mysterious 'shadow' with four legs and a 'topknot' moving through their home. The following morning, August 20, Raimundo witnessed two small, oval-shaped objects, approximately 40-50 centimeters in diameter, resting on the ground outside their home. One object was matte black, while the other was striped black and white. Both featured tubular appendages. According to Raimundo, when his father approached the objects, they collided with a dull sound, began to spin, and generated a whirlwind of yellow dust that enveloped Rivalino. Rivalino was never seen again. The document notes that a local official, Antônio Rocha, had reported seeing 'two balls of fire' in the area the week prior. Although a skeleton was discovered near the site in 1963, the author of the report, H. Brant Aleluia, questions the circumstances of this discovery, noting that the rapid decomposition of the body into a clean skeleton within six months is inconsistent with natural processes in an area exposed to scavengers. The report concludes that the case remains unresolved and that conventional explanations—such as the father fleeing or being a victim of a crime—fail to account for the specific details provided by the witness and the physical anomalies observed at the scene.
