Information Report: Sighting of Unconventional Flying Object

This Central Intelligence Agency Information Report details a sighting of an unconventional flying object on October 4, 1955. The witness, traveling by train, reported that at approximately 7:10 p.m., a member of their party alerted them to an object outside. The witness described the object as resembling a partially deflated balloon with a slight dome on top. It was observed rising vertically from the horizon at an altitude of 10-15 degrees. The object featured two light sources—one on top and one on the perimeter—which emitted a glow similar to an aircraft engine exhaust, colored white with a trace of pink. The witness noted that the object appeared to be roughly the size of a stubby fighter aircraft. During the observation, the object spun in a clockwise direction, creating a pinwheel effect. It eventually ceased its vertical ascent and moved toward the train at a tremendous speed, described as faster than a jet plane performing a fly-by. The witness observed the object while in a stooped position looking out of the bottom of a train window.
