New Zealand Defence Force Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) Files: Copies for Release to the Public

This document is a public release compilation of New Zealand Defence Force files concerning Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and Unidentified Aerial Sightings (UAS), spanning the years 1952 to 2009. The files were declassified in September 2010 and are held at Archives New Zealand, with access to original files restricted until 2050 for privacy reasons. The compilation includes reports of sightings from both the public and military personnel, extensive press clippings, newsletters and magazines from the Civilian Saucer Investigation Committee (NZ), and investigation reports from the Defence Department and other government agencies. The files are generally organized by date, though some overlap exists. The release is intended to provide transparency under the Official Information Act, with personal details of members of the public redacted to protect privacy.
