This document is a declassified file (Expediente 780714) from the Spanish Air Force Central Library regarding an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UAP) sighting that occurred on July 14, 1978. The incident involved a military unit from the Spanish Army conducting a night exercise in the El Garrobillo area of Mazarrón, Murcia. According to the report, an Ensign and a Corporal were performing a tactical maneuver when they observed a set of lights that followed them from 04:00 to 06:00. The object was described as a red light that would occasionally turn off, accompanied by two slightly greenish white lights that appeared sporadically, and four additional white lights. The object was observed hovering over a road at an altitude of 8 to 10 meters, and later followed the witnesses to their bivouac at an altitude between 4 and 30 meters. The object was reported to be completely silent and illuminated the walls of a nearby reservoir with a red glow. When the witnesses approached, the object moved to maintain distance, maneuvering around obstacles such as hills or houses. A reconnaissance of the area conducted the following night yielded no abnormal findings. The report notes that while a meteorological antenna was present in the area, the witnesses insisted it was not the source of the lights. The file includes a 1993 informational note from the Army's Information Division to the Air Combat Command (MACOM) and was officially declassified on June 15, 1998, with the determination that there was no longer a need to maintain its classified status.
