Project 10073 Record — Dallastown, Pennsylvania, 15 February 1969

On February 15, 1969, a 15-year-old civilian from Dallastown, Pennsylvania, wrote to the Commanding Officer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to report a UFO sighting. The observer, who identified themselves as having a long-standing interest in UFO literature—citing authors such as Vallee, Michel, and the Condon Committee—described seeing a bright, yellow, egg-shaped, non-blinking light traveling from the northwest to the southeast at approximately the speed of a jet. The observation lasted between 30 and 40 seconds. The witness requested an explanation and information regarding UFOs. On March 13, 1969, Lieutenant Colonel Hector Quintanilla, Jr., Chief of the Aerial Phenomena Branch, responded to the witness, confirming that the case was being filed as part of the official Air Force records on UFOs and providing additional information on the subject.
