Expediente Número 681211B: Avistamiento de Fenómenos Extraños en El Garrobo (Sevilla)

This document is a declassified file (Expediente 681211B) from the Spanish Air Force (Ejército del Aire) regarding an unidentified aerial phenomenon sighting on December 11, 1968, in El Garrobo, Seville. The primary report comes from a chemist who, while driving to a farmhouse at 21:00 hours, observed an intense, changing light flying at an altitude of 50 to 100 meters. The object moved in a NE-SW direction, following the terrain's undulations, and traveled at a speed slightly faster than the witness's car. The witness noted the object made no noise, though military evaluators cautioned that this observation might be unreliable due to the witness being inside an accelerating vehicle. Later that evening, at 23:00 hours, the witness and several neighbors observed the phenomenon again, this time moving in a N-S direction at a distance of approximately 3 kilometers. The military assessment, dated April 14, 1993, states that no subsequent investigation was conducted and that there was insufficient data to determine the origin of the phenomenon. The possibility of the object being 'ball lightning' was dismissed due to the duration and recurrence of the sighting. The file was officially declassified on April 21, 1993, with the conclusion that there was no reason to maintain its classified status.
