Four Lights Seen Over Burnaby

On the evening of October 30, 1968, a couple and a passenger, Mrs. Sallows, were driving on the Grandview Highway in Burnaby, British Columbia, when they observed a series of unidentified lights in the sky. Initially, four lights were spotted in a diamond-shaped formation to the east. The witnesses pulled over near the Cascadia Drive-In Theatre to observe the objects. Over the course of approximately thirty minutes, additional lights appeared, eventually totaling ten. The objects were described as oval or oblong, light yellow with an orange tint, and appeared to be flying at a tilted angle. The witnesses noted that the objects moved in an aimless, wandering fashion, occasionally stopping and hovering. At one point, a larger object arrived, and the smaller lights appeared to encircle it. The larger object emitted two bright flashes, after which all the objects departed rapidly toward the northeast. The witnesses reported that the objects made no sound. The husband estimated the altitude to be just under half a mile. A separate, brief sighting of a single light was noted by the witnesses on November 1, 1968, at approximately 11:45 PM, involving a pale yellow light that dropped a yellow ball of light before disappearing.
