On October 13, 1968, at 22:45 hours, a sergeant and two soldiers stationed at the O.V. unit in La Línea, Spain, observed an unidentified aerial object. The object, described as having three intense white lights arranged in an equilateral triangle, crossed the sky from the northwest to the southeast. The witnesses reported that the object was silent and traveled at a high speed, covering the distance from horizon to horizon in approximately ten seconds at an estimated altitude of 3,000 feet. One of the lights remained fixed at the front of the triangle, while the other two lights were observed crossing positions. No radar contact was recorded by the unit's equipment, which was attributed to the object's extreme speed and short duration. The Spanish INTA-NASA station at Robledo de Chavela was consulted but provided no useful data to explain the sighting. The official intelligence assessment, dated November 20, 1992, noted that while one witness was familiar with aircraft, the lack of individual statements and the short duration of the event made the data's reliability questionable. The report concluded that there was insufficient information to form a definitive hypothesis and recommended that the file be declassified.
